Model Overview

The Xiangwang S7 is the debut model under GAC Trumpchi's brand-new "Xiangwang" new energy vehicle (NEV) series, officially launched on 30 March 2025. Underpinned by GAC Trumpchi's EV+ platform, it is positioned as an intelligent mid-to-large plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV with a 5-seater layout.

In terms of pricing, the initial launch in March 2025 introduced 6 variant trims with official retail prices ranging from RM175,800 to RM229,800, alongside a limited-time promotional launch price of RM169,800 to RM223,800. In September 2025, GAC Trumpchi rolled out the Xiangwang S7 Pro+ series based on user co-creation feedback, further driving the entry price down to RM159,800.

Design Language

The Xiangwang S7 adopts an all-new design language dubbed "Hidden Edge in Smoothness". The front fascia features a semi-closed grille, a 2,618 mm skyline smart light bar, and AI mood headlights comprising 2,248 LED elements, which support at least 8 preset interactive lighting signatures with OTA update capability. The side profile features rugged, boxy lines, complemented by a floating roof design, flush door handles, and 4-door soft-close doors (AWD variant). Over at the rear, it gets a Meander-pattern full-width light bar. Dimensions stand at 4,900 × 1,950 × 1,780 mm with a 2,880 mm wheelbase and a ground clearance of 200 mm. The exterior is offered in 11 paint finishes (5 monotone and 3 two-tone options), while the cabin comes in three interior colour schemes: Brown, White, and Black.

Powertrain and Performance

Under the bonnet, the Xiangwang S7 is powered by a 1.5T plug-in hybrid system, with the 1.5T dedicated hybrid engine outputting 118 kW (160 PS) and 220 Nm of torque. It is offered in front-wheel drive (FWD) and intelligent electric all-wheel drive (AWD) variants: the single-motor FWD model features a 170 kW front-mounted electric motor delivering a total system output of 288 kW, completing the 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.9 seconds; the AWD model adopts a 170 kW front and 80 kW rear dual-motor setup for a combined system output of 368 kW (approx. 501 PS), hitting 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds.

For the battery pack, two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) choices are available: 21.3 kWh and 36.3 kWh, offering CLTC pure electric ranges of 115 km and 205 km respectively. The AWD variant delivers a CLTC pure electric range of 180 km. Total combined range on a full tank and full charge spans 1,020 km to 1,150 km. DC fast charging takes just 17 minutes to juice up from 30% to 80%, with a 6 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) external power output feature standard across the entire range.

Chassis and Handling

The chassis setup employs a front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link independent suspension configuration. Drivetrain options include front-wheel drive (FWD) and dual-motor intelligent electric all-wheel drive (AWD). Steering duties are handled by an electric power steering (EPS) unit, while braking is managed by front ventilated disc and rear solid disc brakes paired with an electronic parking brake (EPB). In terms of tyres, entry-level variants ride on 245/55 R19 tyres, while higher trims are upgraded to 255/50 R20 Michelin tyres. Approach and departure angles are rated at 19° and 23° respectively, with a turning radius of 5.75 metres.

Cabin and Features

The interior is fitted with an AI smart cockpit powered by the ADiGO 6.0 operating interface. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chipset comes standard across the lineup, delivering 4 times the processing power of the older 8155 chip. Display hardware includes a 27-inch W-HUD head-up display, a 15.6-inch central infotainment touchscreen, and a 17.3-inch 3K HD rear roof-mounted screen. Audio is piped through a 22-speaker high-fidelity sound system with Dolby Atmos support.

For seating, four main seats feature ventilation, heating, and massage capabilities. The second-row backrest reclines up to 137° and includes powered leg rests. The second row also supports one-touch flat folding, which expands boot space from 720 litres to 2,050 litres. Additionally, buyers can opt for a 20-litre onboard refrigerator (-15°C to 50°C).

Safety and Intelligent Driving

Intelligent driving is among the primary selling points of the Xiangwang S7. The entire range comes equipped with GAC's Xingling ADiGO GSD mapless full-scenario intelligent driving suite, enabling mapless urban and highway Navigation Driving Assist (NDA). The sensor suite on high-spec variants comprises 27 sensor units, highlighted by a variable-focus LiDAR with centimetre-level detection accuracy. Autonomous driving chip options include the Horizon Journey J3, Journey J6M, and NVIDIA Orin-X (254 TOPS). The Pro+ series is co-developed with Momenta, adopting an end-to-end intelligent driving foundation model. In testing, the Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system achieved full stops from speeds of up to 120 km/h.

Passive safety is well covered with 10 airbags as standard across the range. The battery pack adopts GAC Magazine Battery 2.0 technology, certified to prevent thermal runaway even under extreme tests such as gunshot, nail penetration, and boiling water immersion. Built with a high-strength steel chassis structure, the vehicle also offers first-hand owners a lifetime warranty on core EV components.

Market Performance and Reception

Since its market debut, the Xiangwang S7 has expanded its presence via its initial launch and subsequent Pro+ series rollout, with the Pro+ series quickly reaching 500 showrooms nationwide. Real-world test data reveals that its 205 km CLTC pure electric range delivers 170 km under WLTC conditions, marking an 82.9% range real-world efficiency rate that eclipses the segment average of 65%. In media group tests, the Xiangwang S7 has proven well-suited for pragmatic family buyers, thanks to the PHEV system's balance between low fuel consumption and long touring range, along with its generous cabin space and rich equipment list. The SUV competes directly against rivals like the Li Auto L6, AITO M7, BYD Song Plus DM-i, and Deepal S7. Owner feedback has seen praise directed notably at the Xiangwang S7's commanding road presence and interactive AI mood headlights.
